Hey Everyone!! - been over 20 years since went fishing...

Hey guys,

Been over 20 years since I last went fishing and jeez i feel so out of date...

Last few weeks i've been just going to mornington, mordialloc & Patterson Lakes pier fishing. Haven't had any luck though, still waiting... :water:

My main goal is to stick to pier fishing in the hopes of maybe catching Bream, Snapper, and maybe some flathead. This Saturday we head to Flinders Pier.

Don't know what gear i'm using but i know its well out of date! Any websites on fishing and/ or tackle would be mighty helpful!! Literally just got back into it

Before someone beats me too it, i'd highly recommend the AFN guides to Westernport and PPB, you can get them for $10 a piece at BCF.

Take a salmon slug and also a squid jig to flinders, good chance for either a sambo or a couta ont he slug.

So what is a "salmon slug"? - and what is a "sambo"

salmon slug = a shiny metal lure, generally with one treble hook at the back end. Some are shaped like baitfish (whitebait/pilchard/etc) others are just slabs of metal with a curve, or diamond shaped. google 'salmon slug lure'.

sambo = Aussie salmon AKA bay trout, black back, black-backed salmon, buck, buck salmon, cocky salmon, colonial salmon, Eastern Australian salmon, native salmon, newfish, salmon trout, three kings. It's also a name for Samsonfish if you're out in WA.

It's actual name is a Kahawai or something like that, not sure of the spelling.

- Already on it! i'm going BCF on Friday to pick up a copy... Seems like its a staple!
