Hi All!
First time poster - long time lurker (5 years). Thanks for all the awesome content.
My love of fishing started when I was around 10, my second summer fishing in Lake Bolac. That summer holiday my uncle and I pulled over 200 redfin in from the banks and listened to the Aussies smash though England (go McGrath)
Fast forward some years and now my 11 yo daughter and 13 yo son have just started to enjoy fishing. Last month my son pulled in his first couple of squid, he's now wanting a bunch of fishing gear for Christmas :D My 11 yo daughter is a real trouper and braves the conditions without complaint, her catch tally is rather good for the handful of trips she's been on. To add to my luck my fiancee is happy to join me too, thankfully her dry run was ended last weekend by landing some Pinkies.
Our favourite places at the moment are the piers at St Leonards and Portarlington, having produced some every trip. We used to spend a bit of time around Lauriston and Coliban however they seem to not be producing much. We live in Gisborne, so if anybody has some secrets they want to exchange for coffee (I'm pretty handy with the espresso machine) that'd be awesome.
We have a collection of light (1-3kg) gear for fresh and salt water as well and some longer mid weight (6-10kg) kit for fishing the piers.
