Hi guys! New to the forum (longcaster98)
Hi Everyone!
So basically I started fishing when I was 9. It was a boiling early January 2012, my dad bought me a small rod and reel and took me to St Kilda pier for the first time to go put a line in the water and 5 mins in I was hooked literally and figuratively! It took me 15 mins to reel in a 20cm pinky hahaha! We caught 20 fish between us that day and I went fishing every day for the rest of my holiday.
One problem I had was that I was horrible at casting, so I was forced to practice down at the local footy oval mainly because my dad was sick of casting for me, within a month I was casting further than my dad (hence the username). Casting a long way is very beneficial in my eyes although I’m not quite sure why hahaha.
My biggest landbased fish is an 83cm Australian Salmon and biggest boatbased fish is a 1m barramundi, I don’t keep many of my fish but when I do it definitely won’t be a small one because I want that fish to have a nicely fulfilled life.
I may be quite new to this awesome forum but definitely not new to fishing!
Hope you guys like my intro!

Re: Hi guys! New to the forum (longcaster98)
I have an 8ft shimano aerplus 902NT and a Sport Fisher Skirmish 6000 on 10lbs braid. On that rod I can cast 60m average and my best is 90m (with tailwind). My cast is very “whippy” and prone to losing my rig lol. More often than not the fish are only 30-50m away (at least that’s what I find out to be).
