Hi

Post by river_squid » Mon Jun 03, 2019 3:25 pm

Hey all, I'm a uni student based in Canberra. When on holidays I head back to Ballarat (where I grew up) for a few months.

Here in Canberra I fish the local lakes and rivers for carp/reddies/natives, still a bit of a rookie in this area but slowly learning which spots/gear produce some decent fish.

Back home in Victoria I mostly fish for trout/reddies around Ballarat with the occasional trip down to the Great Ocean Road to chase squid and salmon.

A recent highlight for me was getting my first redfin off the surface - I spent about 4 hours casting all kinds of lures in Lake Burley Griffin without a touch, then first cast with a surface lure and it got absolutely boofed by this aggressive little reddie. Not a big fish but still pretty exciting.

Welcome buddy! I used to fish the Canberra lakes. Never did much good on the natives but used to brain some big carp and some decent reddies. Good luck and look forward to hearing about some more Capital captures
