Geelong and Surf Coast

Post by Mr Fourex » Thu Jul 18, 2019 12:14 pm

G’day everyone, new to the forum and new to fishing.

29 years old and never had the urge to go fishing, until one day out of the blue a few months ago I started developing an interest in doing it.

I’ve since been given a rod and bought a new reel, even caught a few small Bream at the local creek thanks to the help of a few YouTube videos and a helpful old guy at BCF.

No idea why I suddenly became interested in fishing but since starting I’ve been consuming as much info as possible, which is why I’m here.

Hoping to be active here on the forum as I learn more, and might even join one of the local angling clubs.

Thanks.

Jeb.

Welcome to the site. Sounds like you are taking suitable steps to learn. The best advice I can give you....don't make the mistake many of us, including myself have made. That is, don't buy 10 times more fishing gear that you actually need!!!!
Cheers

Haha I have seen some of the nice gear on the Shimano and Daiwa websites already.. Fortunately I have such little knowledge of the basics yet that I don’t have the urge to buy anything expensive for the time being, I’m more interested in learning what everything is gear wise (types of reels and rods etc) and how things are used to help you catch different fish etc. Thanks for the welcome.

What’s the boss, Bream on a lure? Think I saw something about that in another thread.

It means that bream is a difficult fish to catch for someone starting out, so if you caught them already then your ready to take on anything that swims.
