Re: what do you do with your salmon?
I tried some the other day for the first time and really didn't enjoy it.
However I've been told the best way to prepare a salmon is to use a pair of emt shear. Slit the throat and let the salmon bleed out essentially. The heart pumps all the blood out. Then gut it remove blood line and put on ice. Have to eat it that night.
So I'll do this and give it a go. Otherwise will only bring filleted salmon home as dog food. He absolutely loved it.

Butterfly fillet, raw. Mine love 'em, they must be ok 'cos whenever we go up to visit the breeder we got them off, She is stunned by their good condition.oldfisho39 wrote:So, what's the prep if using for my fav mutt ??. Raw, cooked, skinned or ??? :captain:

Re: what do you do with your salmon?
One my favorites:
Take some potato & slice them up and lay in a baking dish. Drizzle a small amount of olive oil over them & a little tuscan seasoning. Take the descaled & gutted sslmon & lay it on top of the potato slices. Put some garlic, fennell lemon slices inside cavity. One can also score/lightly cut the skin & put garlic cloves in the fledh. Baste skin lightly with olive oil then sprinkle outside skin lightly with salt. Bake in oven at 180 for 30 mins fan force, or 45 min non fan.
The flesh just falls off the bones when you come to eat it. Serve with salad & chips or wedges :dinner:

Re: what do you do with your salmon?
I eat them. Bleed them when catch them.
Once back at cleaning table I fillet and skin them. And bag them to freeze.
Normally 2 big fillets make a meal for me.
I'm my opinion I like them best out of snapper, flathead, gummys. Salmon only fish I can actuly taste the flavor of.
