if its salmon you're after, don't bother with fg. use improved albright and leave the knot outside the guides when casting slugs. the salmon don;t care about short leader and albright can be tied faster

To tell you the truth I use this for all my lure fishing anyway and keep it out of the guides, squid, bream, hardbodies, slugs etcBasti wrote:if its salmon you're after, don't bother with fg. use improved albright and leave the knot outside the guides when casting slugs. the salmon don;t care about short leader and albright can be tied faster

I use fg or uni-uni, and allways run atleast a meter of leader.Larksy88 wrote:CarlG wrote:X2.Basti wrote:if its salmon you're after, don't bother with fg. use improved albright and leave the knot outside the guides when casting slugs. the salmon don;t care about short leader and albright can be tied faster

Re: Salmon are off their head at frankston pier!
I tend to use a 3metre leader of 10kg and then a 4kg main line. I don't normally have a problem with the leader knot going through the rings unless using heavy line off the beach. Even then a dab of superglue over the knot smooths things out.☺
Cast, catch and put it back

Well i don't know if everyones been keeping an eye on the salmon reports, i know i have been, anyway, There have been salmon showing up from mornington to black rock, with the salmon seem to be thicker/more active around mornington area, have been down to franganistan pier a few times and the blood stains are getting a bit thicker and i've been told the salmon have been sighted swimming through aswell, now to go catch a few, wait and see how next weekend goes!
