Blue Lake, Plenty Gorge

Post by solararrow94 » Sun Jun 18, 2017 11:38 pm

Hi all,

I've been wondering for a while if Blue Lake in the Plenty Gorge Parkland have any fish in it, and if it has ever been stocked?

Have a search through this forum there are probably a couple of threads about it.
From memory there was a fish kill in 2012 from a natural gas leak.
Might have filled up with carp/redfin since that time who knows?
I'm sure there would be eels in there, might be tough catching them during the day though.

Give it a go and let us know how it goes.

Dragging up an old thread, but i finally decided to give Blue Lake a crack with the nice weather on Sunday, absolute stunning lake great spot for swimming in the summer.
Had 2 rods in the water with worms on the hook, didn't even get a touch in the 4 hours i was there, had the shrimp net in the water as well, nothing.
When the weather gets a bit warmer i'll put on the googles and see if i can spot any life.
FWIW there was someone else fishing throwing a stumpy around, i didn't see them catch anything either.

Used to be an impressive look out over that lake but they have fenced it off due to crumbling cliffs

Went there for a walk about a month ago; water looks like acid sludge...

Was thinking about finding Reddies or carp up that way.
