Albert Park Lake
Hi all,
I was just at Albert park Lake yesterday from 1:00 until 5:30 hoping to get onto some trout, estuary perch and possibly yellowbelly. As per usual, I failed to catch a single fish. I saw plenty of fish, including a huge yellowbelly just sitting no more than a metre from the pier outside of the Hidden Jade restaurant, but no matter how much I bobbed my plastic around in his vicinity, he wanted nothing to do with it.
I was wondering if anyone has had lots of success at Albert Park, and if so, what tactics work best? I was using Zman curlytail grubs and a spinner, and found myself getting hung up on the weed beds on almost every cast, especially since they were hard to avoid with the low water level.
I have also been to Karkarook a few times, using a mix of hardbodies and plastics. No luck either.
If anyone could provide some good gear, tactics and spots to use I would greatly appreciate it.
Cheers

Re: Albert Park Lake
Albert Park is a hit and miss for me.
Is the water still low? When its a bit high, I use shallow dive hardbodies, those EP and trout will come up from the deep weeds.
Spinnerbait for yellowbelly, or use weedless hook and plastic.

Re: Albert Park Lake
From what I've heard it was drained to water the grass for the grand prix. For most parts of the lake the tip of the water level is as low as the tip of the weed beds, and in some parts it's even lower.

Yeah, and we haven't had much rain either.
I find spring is the best to fish there. Pretty quiet in cooler months. Not saying you cant catch fish though.
Plenty other good places to fish in cooler months.
