lol..being a pom is not a problem if you're chasing salmon. Just think of mackeral fishing in the uk and you're 3/4 of the way there.sellos wrote:hello my son is in the werribie area this week on a job course,he has the weekend off so he would like to do some fishing,he would love to catch an aussie salmon,he has only got a spinning rod and lures, any help or pointers would be great, now the bad news he is a pommie,
Werribee I can't help you with as regards locations I'm afraid, 99% of my salmon fishing is on the backbeaches.

If he can travel, try port melbourne. Yesterday it was raining salmon before sunset in lagoon pier. They were taking surface lures and SP. Forget metals.
We were catching them meters from the beach.

There's a new break wall down at Werribee South that is supposedly good for salmon. Others catching the usual like flatties off there.sellos wrote:hello my son is in the werribie area this week on a job course,he has the weekend off so he would like to do some fishing,he would love to catch an aussie salmon,he has only got a spinning rod and lures, any help or pointers would be great, now the bad news he is a pommie,
Haven't tried it myself but worth a go. It goes out a lot further than the pontoons down at the beach.
Fresh bait is the key to fishing the mouth of the river though. It'll be a long (or short?) night with anything else.
