Yarrambat Lake
Hi all,
Has anyone been fishing down at Yarrambat Lake recently? I know it was stocked for the last school holidays, but I was wondering if it had been fished out yet? Also, are there any other species in there other than the trout they stock?

Re: Yarrambat Lake
I'd give it another week before it gets stocked again.
Don't waste your time till then as most of the fish that were stocked from the last school holidays are gone.
You will be lucky to find a spot on the weekend as it gets very busy down there.

Re: Yarrambat Lake
Apparently 600 trout were stocked in there today. Be quick before the seagulls clean it out. Best bait is always powerbait for trout in there.

Re: Yarrambat Lake
So i went down to Yarrambat Lake yesterday arvo to see if there was any action and wasn't surprised to see the amount of people fishing there.
Saw a few people land some fish on different baits.
There were also quite a lot of fish breaking the surface and jumping around. Look like they were chasing insects or something.
Might give it a crack during the week when its quieter.

I had a crack early Saturday morning in some sub-zero temperatures.FreeSpool wrote:So i went down to Yarrambat Lake yesterday arvo to see if there was any action and wasn't surprised to see the amount of people fishing there.

Didnt get a touch in 2 hours. Tried 2 different types of powerbait, 1 on running sinker 1 on a float. Flicked lures (spinners and bullets for 30 minutes) as well.
Got fed up and went home.

Be careful of the grass slope there in a 2wd its deceptive, folks are always getting bogged there.
The missus used to fish there, I hated it due to sheer amount of rubbish left around the place.
