I've got 1/2 a day to kill over the autumn, rather fish than drive, any thoughts?

Car parking a pain I'm guessing? Great suggestion I'll use public transport.

Sure, I'll dig the map out. Are the Parks Dept & locals ok with on site dispatch? Don't particularly want to haul dead carp on a tram or in the back of the car either and don't want to upset the locals if it can be helped.

Not sure what the Yarra downstream of Dights Falls is like - never tried for carp that far down.
Anywhere upstream of the falls you will be in with a good chance.
But round Richmond may be worth a crack.

Definitely - throw out some corn on a number 8-6 hook down as far as Herring Island. Berley up with the corn in the same area you are fishing - there are massive carp up to at least 80cm to be had ...

Even further! One time I was walking over the Yarra on chapel street bridge and below there was a guy in a kayak putting a carp out of its misery
