It was May 2018. Took a lot of chicken bits and pieces and set up the rods under the shepherd bridge. Didn't get any substantial bites for hours and when i was frustrated, threw the chickens in the river and decided to go, in just 5 mins something really heavy stared taking the bait. It was nothing but a mighty eel!( thought it was a deadly sea snake at first)
Then tried to reel it in but bad luck as i brought it on the rock wall, it cut off the line and dissappeared inside the rocks. It was almost 45-50 cm. Cant take a picture as i was struggling alone in the dark and the bloody eel was heavy and dancing crazy!

Salt water there ??
They get much bigger in the salt
Prefer smaller freshwater myself
Been told they're good gummy bait
Keep trying, you'll get a good fish

Amazing creatures. As adults they migrate from the sea up the same rivers they were born in to breed

Lower yarra and nong has a good number of these creatures. I wont take them as a feed even if i get one. They contain high mercury/industrial waste.
