Williamstown

Post by solararrow94 » Thu May 23, 2019 4:42 pm

Hi all,

I was looking on Google Maps and found a spot in Williamstown that could be alright to fish. Just asking if anyone has visited this spot (in front of Gloucester Reserve), and what have been caught in this area?

That is one of my go to spots for squid. I tend to start my drift between the no boating marker and end of the rock wall.

Good spot which produces good fish. Big down fall is the amount of rocks/snags. Be sure to bring an extra load of tackle and patience!

Tips to fish rocky snaggy bottom :
Use paternoster and long'ish distance between the sinker and dropper. Teardrop sinker is the best.
Use ligther line for the sinker, so if the sinker got snagged you only lose the sinker.
Have some alternative sinker, such as tied up rock or old sparkplug, wont have to rob a bank. Losing $1 sinker every cast can be ridiculous and frustrating.
When retrieving, do it fast and dont stop, to keep the rigs on the surface.
Last but not least, pray hard!

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Don't get it started, the mystery of Anth St.

If you're going there, good luck solararrow, and let us know how you go.

So it sounds like the humble spoon sinker would be best over ground like that .
