Where are the crabs?
Hey guys,
Very new to this sport, tried my luck on crabs earlier today at the Barwon River, but no luck.
Could anyone give any tips or suggestions to place and time?
I tried them off the boat ramp off river parade. I set the hoops nets down at noon when tide is ebbing and checked every 30-40 mins all through to 6 when the tide is at the highest. Biggest crab I got was about the size of a dollar coin.
Would be grateful for any suggestions. Looking to eat my own catch for a sense of satisfaction.

G'day stickybeans
I'm in South Australia, so little help about your location but , , , , (there's always a but)
Here, the Blue Crabs come in shallower water in the Summer and warmer months, as a rule, any month with the letter "r" in it is good.
Outside of that they go into deeper waters, and a bit deep for even boats to successfully target them.
There is a run of Sand Crabs in Autumn but again, they vanish in the colder months.
You might try when the weather gets warmer, might not be what you want to hear but sounds logical
Cheers, Bugatti
