Barwon heads fishing

Post by Growlermz » Thu Jan 16, 2014 11:32 am

Has anyone fished sheep wash rd at Barwon heads lately, I am thinking of going down there tomorrow for a fish but would like to know if it would be worth the 1 1/2 hour drive from watsonia first

The only time i've ever failed to get a fish there is after a lot of heavy rain.

Thanks dougie,
Is your fishing done from a boat or land based? I will most lolly be land based at the end of sheepwash rd, since I Amit sure if it would be a great idea to take the boat or not (small 12ft tinnie)
I have been down to sheepwash a few times using either pippies or shrimp caught at sheepwash for bait, what baits do you use?

Land based, the most success i've had is with Berkley gulp 3.5 shrimp in Nuclear chicken. If you go at low tide you can pump shrimp from just upstream of the bridge on the OG side.

Fish a tide that's not flowing too hard for better results.

Hi all,
got down to barwon heads on Friday 17th at about 8am. started out at the end of sheepwash rd, (turn right at the car park) and fished off the beaches there at low tide for about 30 mins with nothing to talk about. Moved to the floating jetty on the Ocean grove side (in the direct sun but you can dangle your feet in the water to cool you down) caught a heap of small Tommy rough, fished there until about 1pm using pippies and chicken breast, best bait was the chicken, all fish were returned.

Didn't even need to cast out as the fish were beneath our feet, just drop the line in and your off. good day out for a bit of fun
