Am not sure if you have got fish finder now or not. But fish finders have come a long way. There are still people who are under same kind of confusion to buy a new fish finder. So for GPS/Fish Finder combo go for humminbird series 9. It has 360 imaging which is really worth investing into money. Conversely if you are looking for lower budget than go for Raymarine DragonFly series. Raymarine has placed this fish finder under very affordable budget. You will get many features almost equal to high end Humminbird or Lowrance Units. In addition, Raymarine gps fish finders are compatible with many maps such as Navionics. I hope it prs.Inbox if anybody needs help.fazmac wrote:Hi guys
New to this so please go easy on me.
Seems to be some well educated users on this forum, so I thought i would pick there brains.
Can someone please recommend a user friendly fishfinder/ Gps.
Had a look at some today and it seems that you get good maps on some but a crap fish finder or vice versa.
So if you could recommend one that would be great.
Thanks

Re: Recommend me a fishfinder/ Gps combo.
Im in need of some help for my 18ft Bayliner aswell, its currently got a small Humminbird 5xx (xx = unknown number, need to check next time im with the boat) but i find when im moving the sounder picks up nothing at all and it completely blurred, is this because of a cheap transducer, cheap sounder or just because im moving?
Also is the Humminbird 500series any good?
Cheers,
Ham

If it's not working when you're moving it could be to do with the positioning of the transducer
