No worries happy to try and help. It's a hard decision to pick a boat. Make a list of needs, wants in a boat and look at what ticks the boxes. What I like in a boat probly won't be what you want. I use my boat for offshore fishing that's about it and I'm not overly fussy with bells and whistles. I'm not 1 who think it's a contest who has the best boat at the ramp. But good on the fellas who have the money to have a flash boat. I can only dream. So I don't need certain things. You may need to keep the missus happy with cabin, toilet, shade etc. Have a good look around boat sales and you will get a bit of an idea at what sort of boat you might want. It's a start at least. And make sure you no what BOAT stands for.Hilaryskitchen wrote:Thanks hosery,

Re: Looking for help choosing a boat!!!
Thanks smile,
I was also looking at 1998 sreaker 5.02 with 90 - 115 hp ,
I have seen a couple around for $10 - 15,000 mark,
You guys are probably right, maybe something smaller would be easier to launch and tow etc.. By myself, even though I have latest model sr5 I will be mostly by myself. Anyone had anything to do with these boats ?
Thanks
Would boat stand for boat and not ship lol ?

Re: Looking for help choosing a boat!!!
Choosing a new boat It's a nice problem to have...you can get anally retentive about it and put together a spreadsheet with weights/hp/economy/durability/re-sale/etc/etc. I ended up getting a 5 meter tinny because it's easy to tow, easy to launch solo, they are pretty tough and most importantly it fits in the shed. It wont take a shotgun blast like a polycraft, but that hasnt been an issue for me yet. I go offshore if the weather is good, but it 's primarily a bay boat.
If your buying 2nd hand, make sure the trailer is in good condition & remember cheap boats almost always end up costing a fortune.

Thanks mattblack,
Yep overthinking is where I'm at, I think Im leaning towards a smaller boat like the streaker 5.02, and thanks hosery you might be right I could be getting blinded by the flashy looking sea legends etc.. As I said maybe a smaller boat would be better and take the time to learn how to sail it and go offshore on good days if applicable

Re: Looking for help choosing a boat!!!
There are ppl on here with bigger boats that sometimes put up adds for deckies when heading off shore and offer to take people out if they chip in for fuel

At 5 mt solo peraon or with wifw you need to wear lifejacket all the time.
5.2mt only need to wear when solo operated
