The Yellow boat in the Bermagui clip is the Tru Dee and while a great boat was not all that fast in those days - that clip is quite some years ago. We came through the entrance about 10 minutes later in our 24 ft Swiftcraft which had a Volvo V8 sterndrive and we powered through with no problems.

Quick question, do boat insurers generally cover flipped boats in bar crossings?

When I rang up club marine they never asked any questions like 'will you be attempting bar crossings?'

If he powered out of that he would have made it. But easy to be a backseat driver... it most certainly caught him offguard from the stern going off the video

Maybe not as the bow nearly went under on the previous wave when he had decent speed.

The boat appears to be massively bow heavy and appeared to be highly trimmed down, possibly tabs as well.

That's what I thought, either forgot to take the trims tabs off ? or did not have main engine trimmed correctly ? or has a forward fuel tank still full ? or under powered for the size boat it is ? or just inexperience. ( any combination of all the above )

I used Narooma as a base port for 6 years so I have some hands on knowledge, during the comps the locals take their deck chairs and esky and sit on the point above the inlet and crack tinnies watching the rookies.
