How to launch retrieve with no jetty

Post by Yota » Sun Nov 05, 2017 7:48 pm

G'day all, I want to have a look around Lake Eppalock on my boat and experiment with the sounder, maybe even catch something.
I've seen the boat ramp pictures online it looks ok but obviously there's no jetty to tie up to while launching and retrieving. I'll be solo and I'm after some ideas to prevent damage to the fibreglass hull while I park or go get the car etc
I'm also guessing the shore will be small rocks and rubble.
What do people do when solo ?
Should I take my own rubber mat to park the boat on or something like that ?

Thanks
Jamie

If your worried about the pebbles damaging the hull the only thing I can think of is wearing a pair of waders and when the boat is off the trailer drop the anchor down in water deep enough for the boat while you go and park the car. Same thing when you come back.

Ha ha ha I don't have waders but that's a sensible idea. If I need to I'll brave it with shorts and take a towel.

At pykes creek the ski boats take an old tyre and just run the bow up on it

Lots of small stones near the boat ramp. Your only option is parking in the stones, or getting wet.

I think my best option is to not go solo.
Thanks for the replies all

If it is windy eppalock can have some bigger waves meaning you need to drag the boat up the bank a little.
If you are fishing eppalock you will scratch your boat but not seriously. Just try it mate you should be ok

Could you put a roll of fake grass down to minimise things?
