Good stuff Josh, boats can be fun even when not on the water.
We look forward to reports of first catches.
Good luck

Will defiantly keep an eye on the weather and see what it does. I think the harbour and the bay (if the weather is okay) sounds like the best plan after reading comments here and talking to a few local tackle shops.

Just for reference the 25 horse motor I've got I've put some work into, starts every time, compression is spot on and I've recently done all new seals and everything and it's also front steer, not tiller.

Thanks a ton for all the replies and any future replies too
Looks like you have done a bit of work so far.
Always more work to do. Lol
If your there for accouple of days could get a charter so get some experience type of fishing and gear is needed

I would definitely take a 4m tinny to Portland. Fish the harbour and the inner area before Lawrence rock. However I wouldn’t head more than 2-3kms from the harbour itself and I’d only leave the harbour when the water is sheltered from the wind.

There's only 1 type of 4m boat I'd even consider going offshore in, and it ain't a tinny.
