You may have been getting confused when I was talking to simsemilla with 350 ltr tank in the stern on his haines 7 mtr

If my boat and had the choice, pro xs command thrust thank you very much. No replacement for displacement.

Nothing wrong with the Suzuki (when not having undiagnosed electrical problems requiring a complete new wiring loom under warranty...) but the torque of the Merc kills it

Plus I think that the fact the merc is near 20 kilo's lighter than the Suk, it's certainly pointing that way cobby.
That pro xs command just gives it that wee bit more punch as well than the standard version.

Its not as simple as that,
Back in 89, it was rated up to 150HP, not weight rated, now you have to take into account that that was when 2 strokes ruled the waters !
A 2 stroke back then weighed about 150-160 kg, now the lightest 150 4 stroke is 205 kg ( merc)
While on a legal stand point I could probably get away with slapping a 150 4 stroke on it and indeed a mate with the same boat did that,
But, also complained about it being stern heavy, went like the clappers, but an extra 50 kg than what the rating really was intended.
Its all about balance, these old cruise crafts can handle the weight, especially when raising the transom to take a 25 inch leg,but extra boat weight in an already beamy arsed boat doesn't balance well ( in my opinion).
So my decision is based on keeping the weight down with the best performance.
These hulls were actually rated from 70-150 hp, a huge range difference, ironical really.........

OK, all you Tecno Blokes !
I want a dedicated stand alone Gps unit, I think 7 inch will do. Don't really mind what brand, just want a good one.
Will be running the new Simrad evo 3 for fish finding duties, its only the small unit, so I dont want to split screens.
Recommendations ?????????
