Re: How do you store your rods in your boat?
There's a good selection there at Whitworths, very good me thinks.
I'm going to try and devise a way of of having secure storage in the cabin area, Haven't quite worked that out yet, It's all good while fishing to have them in the rocket launcher etc, but it's a pain when traveling any distance with them stacked on the floor with Bimini down and travel cover on.
There' certainly plenty of options for all looking at the Whitworth site to pretty well come up with a heap of options for anyone's situation.

Re: How do you store your rods in your boat?
If i put rigged rods up there the sinkers are wrapped around the handle and only have a problem now and then.Mattblack wrote:Yep....and if you don't take off the sinkers the nightmare is even worse. (how far should your rods be spaced in a rocket launcher?)smile0784 wrote:Do you mean tangled lines?
But mostly rods that go up there only have snaps on them
Re: How do you store your rods in your boat?
Yup me. It has happened usually with paternoster rigs or if I dont tension the rods enough and the swing around when I am bouncing on the water. I figured that diverging rocket launchers should be the way to go. Then I realized mine diverges a little. Anyway, recently, it has not tangled because I leave a empty rod holder between on the launchers.Mattblack wrote:Anyone else end up with tangled rods when they are sitting on the rocket launcher or is it just me?

If going further I lay the rods down inside the cabin on the cushions. At home I have a long wooden rod holder which stores them vertically. My rocket launcher only holds 6 rods so I have 2 more rod holders fitted either side of the rocket launcher making a total of 10 rods I can carry. Because you never know which rod you will need.

ok. Nice, I was looking at these recently to add on as rod holders on my bemini poles. Was thinking of using them while fishing, not as storage. But I guess, I could clamp these two on the outer sides of the rocket launcher and would give me more storage. But then again, my problem is not storage while fishing, but rather, storage while the boat is in the shed. And I stow my bemini every time so whatever storage has to be under the top.
Re: How do you store your rods in your boat?
Here is a photo of my gunnel.
The only rod I can put there is my daughter's pinky rod. The other rods which are about 6-7 feel long with 2500-3500 reels cannot fit in there or if they do, can only fit one rod.
On the port side, due to uselessness of this gunnel rod storage, I have actually removed the rack so that I can store tackle boxes etc. So basically all my rods are actually stored with the butts on the floor and the tips on the rear seat cushion tops. At this time, I am fishing with 5 rods usually. Taking more than that would just clutter up the boat.

Yeah I'd put 4 or 6 rod coaming racks on the side pockets.
For garage storage I'm going to do something like this, directly above the boat:
