i did laugh at the 1:00 mark when they turn the system on the guys go from rocking the boat in the same direction as each other to going against each other

EDIT: every time they switch the system on in the video. the guys rocking the boat go out of synchronisation. not saying it doesnt work, but the "test" sure isnt consistent.

Cost, Weight and Space requirements any saving's on quells would offset the extra fuel required due to weight and also reduce the number of passengers for the same reason. Thats if it even works it's not just the rocking side to side but the continue rising and fall with swell that contributes to sea sickness.

Most Aircraft have Gyros in them -Some for direction,Attitude info and Autopilot. The autopilot signals go to the control surfaces to stop buffeting. These are very small units.
Some Navy ships have larger Gyros -They do many tasks -One is to give Signals to the Stabilisers -To stop rocking.
The Seakeeper Gyro looks like it only uses a spinning wheel-No external servos.
Hum-This wheel must be spinning fast and would be pretty heavy-What ever moves -Wears out

I reckon its a great idea and as the years pass they will only get smaller and more affordable. This technology has been around for a very long time but is mostly used in seriously big game boats and yachts/ships. It's only recently they have got it small enough to use in big trailer boats.

Even some of the tall buildings in the city use these to offset the sway from strong winds.

You guys commenting on the price.. This thing is going into boats upwards of 250k! Not your 30k bay boat! Fuel consumption and weight saving isn't even considered when you're talking that level of boat.

I really like when the bloke is sitting in the middle of the swell and chop side on with the boat listing but once he turns it on it goes dead flat. That would make offshore fishing in less than ideal conditions so much more enjoyable not to mention safer. Also fighting a fish in sloppy conditions would be much more safer.

Cheers, Anth
