I would really weigh up my options properly .
How often will you use a dedicated offshore boat?
Can your current vehicle tow the future boat?
Do you have storage for the new boat?

If you want to stick with 2 boats then perhaps downsize the estuary boat and get a bay/offshore boat as a second so it can be used more often?

Plenty to think Bout
Cheers

Towing Capacity (braked)

3100 kg

Towing Capacity (Unbraked)

750 kg

I don't even know if im allowed to tow my tinny LOL

the piston brake on the a-frame of a trailer counts as braked, right? or should I have actual electric brakes installed on my vehicle+trailer?

Anyway, a 6m fiberglass boat fully loaded + fuelled will be around the 2.5 tonne max mark I would think?

For sure, I'm not planning on just going out and smashing serious coin on something I cannot justify nor afford

With a 3100kg limit you can rule out 6.5m glass boats.

6-6.3m would be the maximum which still leaves heaps of options.

mr plow wrote:i would steer clear of the whitleys they might ride soft but the fiberglass work is ok at best in the ones ive seen, have alook at a seafarer victory good offshore hull. might be able to pick up a stabi for that money, they bang abit but super safe, if i was spending 50+k i would be chasing something with a proper hardtop cabin
Nothing wrong with whittley quality IMO.

Yeah I think 6.5 would be out of my price range anyway, unless it were something really really old. 6.3 is a good size. We had a 635 savage swordfish and it was big enough to handle some really big offshore swell out of mclaughlin's bar. But it just rode like a ***** in chop (as you would expect from an aluminum hill that size)
