Keep an eye out for water in fuel

Hi guys,
Boat was used 6 days earlier and run perfectly, used roughly half a tank.
Tank was filled this weekend and just after leaving the ramp motor started running poorly.
As we had just left the ramp decided to head straight back. Just made it back to the ramp as the motor stalled.
Found the water fuel separate was full of water.
Drained out the water from the fuel system ran on the muffs and the water fuel separator quickly filled up again.
Still to determine how much water is in the system but over 2lt has come out so far.
Just a friendly reminder to keep an eye out for water in fuel.

Drain tank, remove water from fuel, there could be 1lt more or 100lt of water.
Replace filters and refill with fresh fuel and hope the high pressure fuel pump is still ok.

the other thing to consider is all the recent rain we have had.
Is the boat under cover? If not, id be checking all you deck fill points (including breathers)
At the same time, keep an eye on when you wash the boat, if you hose over breathers/deck fill points.
If you can, try get a "racor" filter with the plastic see through bottom on it and tap, so you can drain out on the water.
Dont use the glass ryco ones...they are poo. The "eastener" brands are cheaper than the Racor brand, but the taps are rubbish and wear out very quickly.

I'd agree with you there respec. I swapped my no-name crappy version out for a racor filter/separator with the plastic see-through bowl and it's awesome.
