Re: Size and power
Thanks for the replies everyone, I’ll be looking for something around the mono hull/half cabin in a 4.8m range with about 70-90hp and see how it goes. Defs wouldn’t be going out to too bad of conditions especially in westernport, can be deadly out there. Thank you again.

Re: Size and power
Sounds like a good size range to be looking at for your first boat mate.
Good luck with the purchase. Not a bad birthday present at all

Re: Size and power
Pretty much need to know what type of fishing you plan to do out of it. If you’re gonna be bait fishing Wpb the majority of the time I’d suggest a Haines half cab. 470-490sig or a little hunter cabin boat like the 490slc. Forgoes some fishing space. But a bit of room to bunker down out of a weather event.
If you’re gonna be fishing lures you’d probably want a centre console.
Haines 445’s and v17’s are the premium rig in that size range for glass boats but both come with a fair bit of popularity tax. Can source them for $3-4K each but will cost you $25k+ to rebuild.
