Fuel issues?

Post by smile0784 » Thu Dec 27, 2018 1:27 pm

With price petrol so low ATM I decided to fill boat up with petrol 3 days ago.
Now it's hot and fuel is expanding I have little bit fuel coming out the breather but worse part is the oil mix it making a mess on side on the boat

Tried putting the jiggle hose down the the fuel cap but no go.

Tried disconnecting fuel line from boat and manaul pump it with fuel bulb but no go.

The fuel bulb doesn't seem to be moving any fuel.
Changed the fuel bulb over and put a new one in.
No difference.

Pumped 30 times still no difference still no fuel.
Started it up 4 days ago and it was cranking for about 1 or so mins probable before it fired up but then ran well but fuel bulb still wouldn't get filled with fuel.

Think I mite have a cracked hose letting air in under the sealed deck.

Any ideas?

-when priming, make sure the arrow is pointing up, makes it easier to draw fuel
-If you are priming with it disconnected (the bulb that is), squeeze bulb, place thumb over bulb, let go of pressure, release thumb. It will try draw the fuel easier.
- check as many hose clamps, connections, bends, etc you can see...CABLE TIES ARE NOT HOSE CLAMPS.
- make sure the fuel hose hasnt gone off/gone stiff. There are some fuel lines (i think the waterline brand, bcf ones) that are rubbish, they shrink and then dont seal, causing issues.
- check the fuel filter in the boat, it maybe cracked, leaking, causing fuel to syphon out of it, making it impossible to prime.

Whats the fuel system/boat set up...i cant remember

I think I disconnected it last time at boat ramp cos it wouldn't start and use my thumb over end like you suggested.

If it's coming out the breather then the tank is pressurizing, release the filler cap and vent the pressure, should stop or atleast slow it down. do it every cpl of hrs if you're home.
