How to fix the seats?

Post by smile0784 » Sun Dec 30, 2018 5:30 pm

Just noticed some of the screws loose on the seats.
Tried screwing them but looks like just spin.

Took it out and looks like screw is treaded.

Is there a way of putting glue in the whole and then screwing it back in so it holds?
Or need to replace the timber or entire seat?

Can you get on the other side to get a bolt on?
If not maybe a bigger self tapping thread might be the go.

Is it under warranty
If its screwed into timber move the screw higher or lower and plug the old hole in the plastic part with grey silicon

Looking at the screw zoomed in looks like a metal thread which screws into a nut or a metal plate on the other side of the timber

I can't the other 3 screws out to be able to look into further or get into the cushion to put a nut and washer in to bolt into.

Might try this and put in a 10ml syringe and see how far can get in hole

What fishnut said. This is a metal screw or a fixing nut on the end. Best bet would be to bog up the hole or glue in some timber dowels and then use stainless steel fixing screws. Going by your picture looks like it has rotten out inside so check the rest if you can.
