That about rounds it up all nicelyrb85 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 8:10 pmWas going to start a new thread regarding my day out but thought better of it anyway ill ramble about it here.
For a kid from the country a trip to the city isn't a regular occurrence especially when I hadn't been to the boat show since Winga was trying to sell his Mcflashas if you can remember them? First hiccup for the day the Monash even outside peak hour who would put up with that **** everyday get through the slow traffic and onto the next headache carparking 1st spot 75 a day no thanks park at the casino at least I can blow my wage after the boat show.
So finally get to the show around 1130 before purchasing a ticket (sorry seb forgot about the discount) I played ringtoss with the NT promo people won a stubby holder bought my ticket and into the show I went. Wondering the floor there was a lot of peoples dreams but to be honest it's nothing you can't browse online or visit dealerships except it's all under the 1 roof. Wondering up towards the Southern Formula/PPB centre I spot the cafe area and wasn't the food overpriced and below average but a mans got to eat.
After lunch a few boats I came to check out 675 and 700 enclosed Haines hunters and the Southern formulas they look great one can only dream for now... Wondered around past a few other display's boats boats and Hobie's yes Hobie had a great display of their yaks. Finally reached centre stage just prior to the grand opening when some chap from Navico was speaking he done a good presentation apart from the fact he was hurried off he probably was emphasising on Navico's brand alot that comes with the territory it just doesn't properly educate the people on sounder usage, next year ill talk for free if they allow it.
The other speech I wondered past was Red an Danger promoting salt guide and talking Squid and Whiting I walked off after a minute but something tells me squid/whiting fishing isn't that complex. The show was pretty much a browse chatted to some promo girls observed Charlie Micallef seems to like surrounding himself with blonde females and that Lonestar and Richie from dreamcatcher were within a close vicinity I reckon rich buys those snug fitting shirts in bulk.
Nothing really amazed me but I didn't expect it to wasn't lucky enough to bump into Brett but it wasn't by lack of effort I wondered up to every bloke I could walking with their wives saying "G'day Brett im RB85" all I got was strange looks.
The boat show wasn't bad next time ill go on the friday after a few froths at the casino.

Re: 2019 Melbourne Boat Show
Few other observations.
People like to suck up to dealers and promotional people
You don't go their for the bargains.
Eat before hand or go elsewhere and come back
It's still an industry circle jerk
Al McGlashans podcast on the way home was the days highlight

Firstly, ALWAYS park in the crown multilevel car park, it’s cheaper than anywhere else and only a short walk to the show.
I’d almost guarantee you past us somewhere, we got there around the same time and never left until 4:30. I had a red bodied/white sleeved, Mercury top on and my youngbloke had a go fish Nagambie shirt on, really no one had what I wanted to look at so I’ll go back to searching online, might even take a trip to Albury to check a dealer( good reason for a weekend away).

Re: 2019 Melbourne Boat Show
Typical day at the boat show I guess hahaha came home more baffled than I went in. It’s good to catch up with a few ppl and I grabbed a cpl things from rigmaster that I was wanting.
Probably would have been more productive with a mate that fishes rather than a wife who really has no interest lol

Hey mate, did you wonder over n compare surtees 495+540...?SteveoTheTiger wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 6:59 pmI ended up getting down there today after i knocked off work early. I was slightly disapointed that they didnt have the Barcrusher 490c to compare to the 535.. but lets face it, that purchase is still years off lol.
If anyone is after a soft tackle box and a bargain the tackle store down the back on the right has a nice Abu Garcia box for $40. The exact same one at the tackle shop at the entrance is $70. I picked up a new sea anchor for $20 to help with those squid drifts.
To many boats kayak, helicopter , catch a fish, catch a fish

Just to give Victorians a little perspective on "The Melbourne Boat Show"
The Adelaide Boat Show is on from Friday 28th June to Sunday 30th of June , , , , which is about one day too many. Two days is enough as the show doesn't have that much in it.
Some Vic guys might feel dejected after attending your show. Well here in Adelaide there is not a lot in the show. Not a lot of Dealers and not a lot of much at all, so we are more than dejected IF we attend.
To give you an idea , , , , here is our What's On , , , , Stage Schedule
If you noticed, it just cycles over and over on the same 4 thi zzzzzZZZZZZZ , , , , oups sorry, I must of dozed off. Where was I, yeah, that's right, it just cycles over and over on the same 4 presentations
