Just purchased a potential rebuild candidate
So I've been looking at old Haines for a little while now and whilst my preference were between v17, 565 and v19 I did happen to stumble upon something that was just too good of a deal not to grab. The hull is an old v15r purchased off OSHH group on Facebook for $300. By the looks of the photos, she's a banged up old deep V hull that likely wouldn't float, while the trailer wouldn't make it to werribee on the black top, but for for the price it was worth taking a punt. I haven't even inspected it yet and not even going to bother, booked a truck to go grab it friday. Worst case i lose a few hundred bucks, or part it out for spares/break even and sell it, best case is I decide to rebuild it and turn it into a little centre console weapon.
I've spoken to resident HH expert Cobby about it and he seemed to believe its a hull built in a time period between Bertram v14 and Haines 146, which I later researched to find was true. On ya Cobby!
If anyone else has any more information on this old model, perhaps the manufacturing dates (no compliance plate on this) that would be amazing. Also, if I do decide to go down the path of a rebuild, taking recommendations on good boat builders and fiberglassers east of Melbourne, closer to west Gippsland area the better.

Re: Just purchased a potential rebuild candidate
The Bertram V14 had a flooding keel where as the HH V15 didn't.
Are you going to do the work yourself or pay someone?

Re: Just purchased a potential rebuild candidate
I was wondering what the damn hole in the bottom of the transom was for! (assuming that's actually what it is for and not just a gaping rotten bit of boat) Edit: which doesn't make sense since this is a hhv15 and not a bertram (as per the decals anyway) so it probably is a rot hole lol.
Undecided at this point. I am a Gen-Y youtube DIY expert though.

Phew......
HUGE job ahead ( from experience ).
Anything is do-able, will be a new trailer by the looks as well.
My opinion, if you like it, and will end up using it, prepared to basically fully rebuild it, then have a go.
No money to be made here, even if you discount your labour, there would be better options out there for that.
But, if it suits your needs, once finished, go for it......
The feel good factor from achievement, makes projects that others wouldn't contemplate, worth it....

Definitely not expecting to make any money. I'm still debating whether i rebuild it or not. Personally wanted a 565L or a V17 at the very least, but a small 1 man CC for the estuary is tempting too... In an ideal world I'd have 1 of each... I dunno yet, I'll sleep on it for a bit. It was only $300 at the end of the day. I could fix the trailer up, strip the hull back, clean it up, and get that back in a heart beat easy I reckon.
