Floor Covering
I am very strongly considering ripping out all the carpet from the Haines Hunter. I really dislike it being wet all the time, covered in squid ink and hooks etc always getting stuck in it.
I have peeled back a small area under the rear seating and it looks like the fibreglass just continues under it with the flickered paint type effect and it is stuck down with random dabs of glue which should be pretty east to get off.
So the question is what do i then do with the floor? Im guessing straight up fibreglass will get slippery when its wet. But i would like to keep that clean fibreglass look over sticking anything new to the floor. So my best option is probably non slip deck paint.
Anyone have any opinions or experience on this.. what is your deck covering?
If this picture works, then this is the floor as it is now.

Re: Floor Covering
I remember that from the other post.
As awesome as that looks, i think i want something a bit simpler.

Re: Floor Covering
I don't know about boats
Have painted concrete with a paint & sand (?) mix. (Could have been glass) can't remember
Don't know how it would go on fibreglass
Cheers Gra

Re: Floor Covering
$65 a metre & bait, ink go through it, causing a build up underneath
Unless it's easy to remove
Just saying, I know nothing about boats

G'day Tiger
Painting non-slip paint, is going to be hard to remove if it's not what you thought. Which, also, I'd be mindful as I'm not sold that the paint is truly non-slip, probably slip resistant which means you may at times , , , , slip.
I had marine carpet in my 15ft Skimmer, but the water it held was amazing, it carried a lot of weight. So being a "limiting" boat, I needed to keep the weight down.
What I did was put in "Non Slip" tape on the deck. The way I saw it, it is easily removable if I don't like it or doesn't work as I would hope. So, in that same scheme of things I thought I'd put some of that cheap shop (Reject Shop) stuff in first as a low cost experiment. And if it worked well, then upgrade to the "good stuff".
Well that was over 10 years ago. I haven't had the need to upgrade. Works a treat AND no dog-eared edges like mats, to get tripped over.
I'm sure they have high quality tape, as a better looking option.
That's not a good photo, gotta get a better one.
