I’ll go max HP for sure on any boat I buy. So are you an advocate of Mclays bowl?

If telwater make Quintrex, Savage and Stacer. What’s the difference and which is best?
my only experience with them is getting into one at the boat show.
so if you can wait that long then thats the best way to see a boat without a water test, which would be the next thing once you find a few you like.

i was quite impressed with their boats, minimal and neat layouts..
i did find the sides a bit lower (same with the extremes) than the aussie built models of similar size. something to keep in mind with young kids in a boat. too low and theres a risk of them going into the drink, too high and they cannot fish properly..

If you want your wife to find you more attractive and your kids to respect you more, get a Stabicraft.
(1550 is a great all round boat except it has a shallower draft compared to the larger models...the pontoons are fantastic if you have kids climbing in and out all day)

Thanks Mattblack. I like the look of the Stabi 1550, wish money wasn’t an issue and I’d buy the 1850, no questions asked. How much for a new 1550 optioned up with max HP? My budget is as close to $40k as possible.

My only issue is the size and I know this has nothing to do with it’s capability as a boat, but I could have 2 adults and three kids on board or 4 adults at times.

I know it is stable at rest, but does it drive well through lumpy conditions.

Thoughts are again appreciated.

Cheers
