I got s/s tie downs from marine shop and use a short piece of foam pool noodle over the strap above the rachet
Butyou can use a piece of the noodle above and below if required
Works well in keeping the rachet away from the transom

I put some thin foam which has self adhesive on one side of the tie down ratchets

I've seen people use car seatbelts protectors before where it rubs on the hull..

Take the end caps off your nets and gaffs and stuff the handles full of pool noodle. Doesn't stop them sinking, but slows them down long enough to fish them out

That's the one's my mate has on his Razerline, (with a Savage trailer). No corrosion on them, and they've done a lot of work.

Have you looked at the lever style tie down straps? Less moving parts = less chance of malfunction/corrosion. Plus they are generally cheaper and quicker too. And most have some sort of protection fabric to stop scratching the boat.
