Had mechanical on caribbean cobra with 90hp and was easy to steer.

Would hydraulic make huge difference on 60hp??

My cable steer was a p**** on my 60hp etec compared to the hydraulic on the 140hp Suzi in my mates crusher.

I’m going hydraulic when I finally fit it out.

If i had to replace the steering i would be going hydraulic too. Its like going from no power steering to power steering in a car, with no prop torque to fight against and no more seized up steering cable.

For about $1000 - $1500, its seems like a pretty good investment.

Ive been on a certain individuals boat who is very well know here for all the wrong reasons when the steering cable gave way.
i have driven the boat before, and after the new manual steering was installed.
you could turn the boat with one finger with the new cable, which was 100% manual and not hydraulic.
so it all depends on how the cables are routed id say...

my manual steering is not the easiest to use, and the cable has quite a few tight bends which explains mostly why..

I installed a Seastar system and it works well with a 90, the steering's pretty light and only a few turns lock to lock.
