With that sort of budget why not look at a new boat rather than 2nd hand? At least you get the warranty etc with a new boat and less of the problems.
Then it comes down to what sort of seas you feel you'll be up against, are you planning to go off shore or just around the bays? Do you want to fish rivers or shallower lakes as well? Be careful not to go too big if you plan to go anywhere other than the ocean/bay.

Mate 40k now your just showing off lol just like everybody else here said... you can buy about anything on boatsales... but I agree with LINC... buy new. At least you know the engine will last you a few years and you wont have any nasty surprises and big repair bills. They usually come with everything you need gps finder etc. Im looking fro a new boat myself $15000 is my budget and pretty much can get a boat for bay fishing not keen on heading out to sea yet, not until I clock up a year or two of bay experience...plenty of fish in the bay anyway... :titanic: Happy boat hunting mate... you bastard

hey mate,
$40,000 is a fantastic budget for a fishing boat. i recommend spending the next few months doing research, such using forums, boatsales and magazines. I have found that magazines give great write-ups on boats that are very indepth and informative, plus you hear of a lot of brands that you wouldnt have before
