what are pelagic fish?

did a google search and it says pelagics are fish that lives in the mid water column. is this correct?

I think that's about right, they're also usually very good swimmers and can put up a good fight.

Most fish spend their lives hiding around structure - reef, rocks, the shoreline or the seafloor - pelagic fish spend their time cruising around in the open ocean.

correct. So fish like tuna. Marlin and even salmon are pelagic

Most bait type fish are pelagic as well, mackerel, pilchard, anchovies etc. There are others that a semi pelagic in that they travel in large schools during seasonal migration, but tend to feed near the bottom. True pelagic feed and live midwater all their life.
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.
