I've got a Braemar evaporative system with 7 points and last Fridays scorcher still had my house sitting on 19- 20 degrees inside, when its mid 30's it sits on about 17-18 degrees which is comfortable. I find evaps don't go that good only on humid days .Ive got solar panels so its not an issue but evaps still use less power than refrigerated.

I would just get the evaporative cooler looked at mate.
Those costs you are seeing are back to back installs.
Aka outside compressor unit goes exactly behind (outside ofcourse) where the inside head unit goes.
If the outside compressor unit has to be in a different location for whatever reason. Then the costs go up.
Also I'm not sure if the electrical wiring side of things is included in that price. If not then add another $200 or so as a minimum per unit.

Evaporative cooling is a lot cheaper to run. But if you like it ice cold then your best bet is to get a split system installed atleast in the bedroom.

I was quoted back to back plus a 2mt divert on each unit for extra $50 all up.

I asked how much it is to install the aircon. And to make it functional needs elecricity and he quoted that price.

Evap cooling doesnt cut in on a hot day for me. Lol

If they have included everything and you get 2m extra for $50 that's good.
Just thought id mention it to you to prevent suprises later.

If you want ice cold then yes split or ducted. Ducted will be a lot more expensive.

I hate the rooms being like a fridge personally.

We don't have any cooling and I've managed to keep our house below 24 degrees this whole summer so far. You're doing something wrong if it's 35 in side :o_0:
