Re: Wedge-tailed eagle killing in Gippsland
l agree this is a pathetic penalty for a horrific act.
The judge gave him such a light penalty because he pleaded guilty and confessed to the extra killing of the eagles.
Originally they found around 136 dead eagles but he told them it was over 400.
His defence for doing it was that his boss wanted him to increase the production of lambs by 120%.
lf this is true then hopefully they get him as well.
This was all reported on abc local radio yesterday.
l can't believe though even with a guilty plea this piece of sh!t can get such a light penalty.
Wtf. How discraceful. He should be named and shamed
His name is Murray James Silvester from New Zealand,so l think now he should be shamed.
Maybe sending him back to NZ is punishment enough lol

It was mentioned on the ABC last night that the guy who had been charged said the land owner told him to do it so I’d say the bigger penalty is heading the land owners way.

Vigilante justice probably shouldn’t be encouraged, what if the bloke was threatened with losing his job or something if he didn’t do it? Maybe wait for the investigation to finish before jumping to conclusions.Nightwish wrote:l agree this is a pathetic penalty for a horrific act.

l wasn't suggesting vigilante justice l just think these people should be held to account and if he was threatened with losing his job or something worse l would have thought it would have come out in the court case which is now finished.

fair enough l should have read your earlier post but with the way it was reported on radio l thought it sounded like the end of it.hornet wrote:"A department spokesman said on Monday night that the investigation into the deaths was ongoing."Nightwish wrote:l wasn't suggesting vigilante justice l just think these people should be held to account and if he was threatened with losing his job or something worse l would have thought it would have come out in the court case which is now finished.

The court case involving the farm worker is possibly over for now unless more charges are found, I would say IMO there are still some others left to fry, the ones who gave the instructions to the farm hand to kill the birds, and if any threats were given to the farm hand if he refused.Nightwish wrote:fair enough l should have read your earlier post but with the way it was reported on radio l thought it sounded like the end of it.hornet wrote:"A department spokesman said on Monday night that the investigation into the deaths was ongoing."Nightwish wrote:l wasn't suggesting vigilante justice l just think these people should be held to account and if he was threatened with losing his job or something worse l would have thought it would have come out in the court case which is now finished.

Not a good idea to have this guys name all over social media his lawyers will play the victim card if threats are made.hornet wrote:The court case involving the farm worker is possibly over for now unless more charges are found, I would say IMO there are still some others left to fry, the ones who gave the instructions to the farm hand to kill the birds, and if any threats were given to the farm hand if he refused.Nightwish wrote:fair enough l should have read your earlier post but with the way it was reported on radio l thought it sounded like the end of it.hornet wrote:"A department spokesman said on Monday night that the investigation into the deaths was ongoing."Nightwish wrote:l wasn't suggesting vigilante justice l just think these people should be held to account and if he was threatened with losing his job or something worse l would have thought it would have come out in the court case which is now finished.

Re: Wedge-tailed eagle killing in Gippsland
His name was released by ABC news, no one here has jeopardized anything. The farm hand has been charged and no restriction has been applied by the courts suppressing the offenders identification.rb85 wrote:Not a good idea to have this guys name all over social media his lawyers will play the victim card if threats are made.hornet wrote:The court case involving the farm worker is possibly over for now unless more charges are found, I would say IMO there are still some others left to fry, the ones who gave the instructions to the farm hand to kill the birds, and if any threats were given to the farm hand if he refused.Nightwish wrote:fair enough l should have read your earlier post but with the way it was reported on radio l thought it sounded like the end of it.hornet wrote:"A department spokesman said on Monday night that the investigation into the deaths was ongoing."Nightwish wrote:l wasn't suggesting vigilante justice l just think these people should be held to account and if he was threatened with losing his job or something worse l would have thought it would have come out in the court case which is now finished.
