G'day Purple5teve

For a storage solution, instead of just a Pegboard, make a Pegboard Cabinet.

That's where the inside backing of the Cabinet is a Pegboard AND the doors are a Pegboard as well. So two layers of Pegboard.

This Cabinet is just to give you an idea of what I am talking about.

Box up the Pegboard, Cabinet style. Then hang two doors made of Pegboard. The Doors can be welded square tubing frame or an MDF panel with the "inside" cut out to leave a frame and then the Pegboard screwed/nailed to them. Please Note: trying to frame the door with 4 lengths of wood, unless you have Cabinetry Machinery, the door frames won't be sturdy.

Price it up with some Pine 19mm thick for the Cabinet Box frame

Or, if the Cabinet can be max 150mm deep (depending on the tools to be stored inside And also the depth of the Peg hooks) you can get all the pieces cut out of a Panel of MDF (prob about 18mm thick), if you are going 1800 X 1000 for the Pegboard. Or adjust the dimensions of the Pegboard to allow the required depth so as to make it cost effective to be able to use just one panel of MDF

OR

If you can find a cheap enough flat-pack wall Cabinet , , , , then make the Cabinet but nail a Pegboard as the backing. And cut the doors as per the MDF style insert removed and nail/screw Pegboard to cover the doors,

Presto , , , , fancy double layered Pegboard Cabinet :-D

Peg boards are good for hand tools but electrical tools, cordless skins and batts should be stored in a cupboard to prevent excess dust accumulating

The Pegboard cabinet covers the best of both worlds. Electric tools inside, hand tools outside

Man that's a lot of detail. Thanks for that.
Not sure if I can manage a cabinet into my existing shelving system. But it's a great idea which could be utilized elsewhere or by someone else.

The board is going in my fully enclosed shed. Still a bit of dust in there. But I dont think its going to matter as much. It's been in the same shed for a few years now. Just getting tidied up a bit more I guess.

Thanks for the thread purple
Being an EX empty nester, my sheds are full of my 2 kids stuff & tools are hard to find at times
One thing I did think of was, if your putting it up behind your work bench, make sure you can reach them easily.

yep already made sure of that hahaha, shelf height is at my stomach atm, another meter for the board is ok for reach height wise, thanks for the tip..
its more of a shelving unit than a work bench TBH.

I bought some of those metal pegboards but they are garbage. I prefer a rolling toolbox over pegboards. I put a bit of thought into my shed layout. It ain’t perfect but it’s not too bad. Recent favourite not shown in the video is some 3D printed battery holders for the cordless tool batteries.

Edit

Decided a video of the inside of my shed wasn’t that wise lol

Thanks. The metal pegboard can be eliminated then.
The 3d printed holders would be nice.
What did that cost you. Or did you diy...
