you can get flexible connections that can attach to drills and dremels. maybe thats easier to connect and also handy to use in this situation..
one hand can hold the rod and reel the other can work the drill.
i have a couple you can borrow if it will fit the scenario.

Perhaps you can use something like this attched to the drive shaft to keep weight and bulk to a minimum

Great idea Miss Miss, a Driver would be perfect as it would have the torque, the low speed and is light weight.

Doing some testing today, so I shall see what works best AND hopefully, if when I'm using the Drill and a piece doesn't fling off at high speed, knocking me out , , , , if you don't hear from me by , , , , let say , , , , Tuesday, 8:00 pm , , , , can you call someone to come with some first aide :-D

Finished the Reels, and they do look like "normal" reels, which is good.

Modifying the Driver Bit into a Handle Axle so a handle can be fitted at one end and the Driver fitting at the other end, wasn't as easy as I first thought. Denis & Tackleberry would appreciate trying to drill the handle pin (2mm diameter) into High Carbon Steel is , , , , yes, impossible :o_0: . So, welding the original end of the Axle (with the 2mm hole already drilled in it) to the new modified High Carbon Driver Bit was the next option , , , , and agian, welding High Carbon Steel is , , , , yes, hard if not , , , , near impossible , , , , and at 4mm diameter , , , , Grrrrrr :o_0:

But alas , , , , presto , , , , one Handle Axle.

Now, I would like to say that it went well , , , , no it didn't , , , , some choice words were yelled out  , , , , and a Jacks Break was in order. But all ended well, and a coffee to celebrate the completion was in order

Just an update, Fishomick graciously sent me his deep dropper as well. I am now in the process of ordering the cables and the battery.
Once that comes together , ill do a little testing and then get this show on the road.
