As you may already know, recently my mate and I purchased titan 10.5 and slayer 10.
We thought of few options but for now we're thinking to carry them on one car (roof rack).
The issue is that the titan is 95cm wide and 44kg, so gonna have to lay that flat. So we're thinking to horizontal stack them on the roof rack.
Does anyone know where I can get custom made roof rack to accommodate my need?
Not the best drawing but something like this. Possible?

I've stacked them up like duckman showed (the pair on the left) with a pair of hobie outbacks and also with an outback and another small kayak for some pretty big trips, no issues what so ever.
That photo is what I was trying to explain

Has a raised rail.
Thanks Maz, and you never had any issues? no slips/slides/scratches or any damage at all?
What do you think of putting a mat (like a yoga mat) in between?
Kayak, strap, then another kayak and another strap? or pretty much two kayak and strap them both?
Never heard that before but okay!
Not Ms Paint btw, it's a doodling app on the phone. Not that i can do any better with Ms Paint. lol.

I’d only strap both together if they are the same type of yak and nest well.
Don’t worry about any yoga mats or other stuff. Just tie the Titan down and then tie the slayer on top.
Do you know how to tie a yak/ladder onto a roof so it tensions down properly?

Thanks i'll give it a try tomorrow.
I have this and usually just a truck hitch rope tie if needed. Should I know a diff knot to hold them? don't want them to slide around the roof.

Those are garbage for roof racks.
You’ll want 2x6m straps at least (might get away with 4.5m but a bit of extra length isn’t a problem) I recommend 2 per yak so 4 in total. I have em in all lengths.

Then tie it down like this. Except don’t throw the buckle end unless you want paint chips. Also I cut the annoying silicone sleeves off my gripwell ones after a couple of years use. Found it easier to use that way.

FYI. Tie em off on the same side. Put a bit of a twist in the strap as you thread it around to prevent the straps singing the song of their people above 45kmh. The excess just loop around the rail and tie a quick release knot in it then shut it into the rear door. Stops strap loose ends flying all over the place.

Used them on the old kayaks. Two of those and two ratchets thing.
Thanks, I'll play around tomorrow and hopefully be secure enough.

Sebby, you have done it again , , , , a great thread
I have learnt a lot about Kayak transport. It seems that one of the crucial components on double stacking yaks, is how - comfortable the person is to do it, how cautious the person is and simply personal preference.
Now don't get too excited, I ain't a Yaker yet and the only thing I am comfortable stacking are my Pancakes
be interested to see which direction you go and also any changes to that as you experience it yourself
Cheers, Bugatti , who is now looking for some Maple Syrup

Seb, I’ll be fishing Avalon tomorrow morning if you want to try out your fancy new kayak. I’ll be launching before sunrise and fishing for a few hours
