Friday the 13th and full moon, good or bad?
Friday the 13th and full moon.
Who's going fishing?
Do you think it's good or bad?

Full moon was yesterday. Squid are supposed to switch off during a full moon. Cameron landed 7 in the middle of a bright day at Sorrento. Go fishing.

Oh yes, 100% moon last night. 98% tonight says Willy Weather.
I heard pelagics like tuna/king can be feeding hard around full moon, true?. And sharks?

I dont' have enough data to make that assessment based on my own fishing but the general consensus is that full moon = better pelagic and shark fishing.

as i'm currently across the ditch might not be as relevant but yesterday on the full moon the trout were behaving pretty strangely but feeding a lot.
lots of big fish swimming in a foot of water taking emergers in the middle of the day which was pretty uncharacteristic of them, also very relaxed and not spooked as easily.

top of the south island. i'm no trout expert by any means but the water was clear as, yet the fish were comfortably feeding and cruising around a few feet from us which was unusual for the region.Seb85 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 11:18 amWhere was this?croe04 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 9:37 amas i'm currently across the ditch might not be as relevant but yesterday on the full moon the trout were behaving pretty strangely but feeding a lot.

Ah yes, you're the one writing that NZ trout report.croe04 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 11:19 amtop of the south island. i'm no trout expert by any means but the water was clear as, yet the fish were comfortably feeding and cruising around a few feet from us which was unusual for the region.Seb85 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 11:18 amWhere was this?croe04 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 9:37 amas i'm currently across the ditch might not be as relevant but yesterday on the full moon the trout were behaving pretty strangely but feeding a lot.

Yes, south island of NZ is very pretty. Clear water etc.
I remember I was having fish and chips on a city park in Christchurch, I saw a dozen or so trout feeding in the crystal clear creek right in the middle of the park, very very close to the CBD.
Not something we use to see here in Oz. Maybe TAS.

must have been cool to see, where i am usually the fish will see you from across the river 20m away, spook, then won't come back for days. makes it very challenging. i wish victoria had similar trout fisheries to nz, it's truly awesome over here. but back to the subject, yes, go fishing. no reason not to.Seb85 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 11:56 amAh yes, you're the one writing that NZ trout report.
