Anyone knows of methods to sell an old car quickly?
Hey guys, I'm done with my studies and was hoping to sell my car and unfortunately have left it till too late to sell it. The vicroads website says that I must sell it with a RWC but I don't have the time to do it. Are there other ways of selling it without a RWC and not resorting to selling as scrap? It's an old car but it still looks really good and runs really well. Anyone been in this situation before? Any help is appreciated! Cheers.

Leave the keys in it at the train station

I believe that would be "giving" not "selling" :icon_lolz:Raulfc7 wrote:Leave the keys in it at the train station

Sell it unregistered. Cancel the rego, return the plates to vicroads and the you can sell it unregistered and without a rwc. Finding a buyer for an old unregistered car is another matter but if it is actually in ok condition and you offer it like a budgie then you may get a buyer. Personally I'd make the effort to get a rwc - assuming that you know it would pass of course ....

no need to sell if it is insured. Advertise which train station you plan to leave it. :rofl:poodoo wrote:I believe that would be "giving" not "selling" :icon_lolz:Raulfc7 wrote:Leave the keys in it at the train station

x2. This time last year i was looking at buying a ute for work and generally I didn't bother looking at any ads if the car didn't have reg/RWC.. even if you can get your old man or a mate etc to drop it off to get a roady, it will help a lot to sell it faster! :thumbsup:sloth wrote: Personally I'd make the effort to get a rwc - assuming that you know it would pass of course ....

hehe good idea, but I'd be so sad to see it go that way. Checked with a couple of companies and they are willing to give me $150 for the car. Well I guess I could de-register it and try to sell it. Hopefully I can sell it off by saturday or something. Much prefer to see it go to someone who will keep driving it.Raulfc7 wrote:Leave the keys in it at the train station

I use eBay for quick sales, make sure you have plenty of pics and start as low as you can with no reserve, it will sell if you have a realistic start price.
By the way, what is it?
