Setup for baitcaster

Post by Stuch79 » Tue Aug 07, 2012 8:24 pm

Ive just bought a T Curve baitcaster with a Daiwa Advantage 153HTSA, I'm thinking about spooling it with 30lb fire line braid and a 50lb fluorocarbon leader, for fishing in the Glenelg from the bank. Will this setup work? Any ideas? What would be a good bait?

30lb and 50lb leader? Are there whales in Glenelg? What's your target fish?

It will work but it is too heavy for that baitcaster and you wont be able to put a lot of line on such a small reel. I suggest you go lighter than 30. I will actually go 10 lbs tops on that reel.

bait? Depends on your target.

I will be casting lure on that combo you have.....

Glenelg river @ Nelson , i suggest you use a 6 to 8 kg outfit . the Mulloway there are mostly school size from 3 to 8kg , but use whatever makes you :D .
