Luck ... or lack of it.
Luck ... or lack of it.
Out again yesterday for a short session. Result:
Solidly hooked something very large, which I had on for a minute or so with a powerful run - then the line went dead. I assumed the hooks had pulled again, but this time I'd lost everything - the line had broken above the swivel. I have no idea why - maybe the fish got to a pylon quicker than I had thought? Then I panicked, trying to tie on a new rig, and put a hook through my finger in the process. Eventually I cast out a new bait ... with the line wrapped around the rod tip - off goes the newly tied rig and bait. By the time I had a bait back out, the tide was all wrong and that was that. I don't know if I'm ever going to land a metre+ fish at this rate!

Re: Luck ... or lack of it.
The fact that you're at least hooking some monsters means you're not far from landing one.

Just sounds like one of those days mate. At your rate, with the amount of hook ups you are having you will probably land that big one soon

Another "fail" tonight, unfortunately. I am learning plenty ... but landing nothing.

As long as you are learning mate, it's all part of the process. It's a frustrating game, but the harder you have to work, the more you earn it. Keep at it mate. It's a journey that will change the way you fish forever, for any species. You will squeal like a pig when that big silver beast eventually comes your way I'm sure.bilby wrote:Another "fail" tonight, unfortunately. I am learning plenty ... but landing nothing.
