Re: new laptop
Take it back your entitled to a refund under consumers rights......it's not fit for purpose. Tell them you will take it to consumers affairs if they don't, they are breaching traders guide lines. ( print it off and take it with you in case you get a part timer serving you, he can show his manager )
*The ‘fit for purpose’ guarantee*
"A trader guarantees that goods will be reasonably fit for any purpose that the trader or the consumer specifies - the goods will do the job the consumer was told they would. "

Re: new laptop
If you have no luck selling, you could use a USB as an extra ram drive which speeds up laptops, computers etc

Re: new laptop
Take it back and explain what has happened and what you want to use it for.
JB are pretty good like that, if it comes to it, you could mention the fit for purpose idea, not sure how it would go though.
I went and complained about something I got from there a week after I purchased it, as it had gone on special for $300 less than I paid. They happily refunded me and then resold me the same item at the discounted price.
