I bought a 5.7 trailcraft
So u never installed the lowrance into the boat ?

I had a 5 inch in my 5.2mt quintrex and had to use money on the bcf card before it expired so i got a good deal on the 7 inch for when i bought newer boat but the trailcraft new lowrance 7 inch hdi

Hdi is a lower version of the hook mate.
Unless you meant hds. Which is definitely a step up...

Just checked its a elite 7 hdi.

Whats the difference between hdi and hook?
Is hook just the next model up?

No chirp on HDI models, and they are the first version of downscan for lowrance.
the Hook has chirp, downscan and i believe a better GPS receiver (not 100% sure on gps though)
id keep the new one and flog the old one off.
or sell both and get a HDS or Elite Ti series

dont confuse the old elite and new eliteTi models they are very different units.

Would i have to replace the transducer if i put the hook model on?

yeah unfortunately i think the chirp transducers are different.(bigger)
has your boat got the metal plate to mount the transducer on, if so thats easily done.

Yep the plate is big enough just not sure how to run the transducer wire back to head unit
