Compleat angler have a Penn mariner rod for $75 which would handle anything then pair that with a vella or something like that, it would end up about $180

u can get Jarvis walker for decent prices, all my rods are Jarvis walker and do the job well. maybe not best quality but good enough if handled well.
Best so far: 47cm aus salmon, 41cm mullet, 40cm king George whiting , 38cm Bream, 35cm flathead, 33 cm pinky, squid 20cm. 2 sting rays caught caught, 1 took a rod as a souvenir. Need to catch snapper... :fish11:

It would be much easier if people ask what would be a cheap combo and their price range because CHEAP for some people could be $10. Other would say 150-200 bucks would be cheap. Would be much easier to help out the fellow fisher if they gave a price range!!

Btw bcf have a sale on, might be a good idea to check out their store. That way you know how much to spend on what you want.

Cheers

Considering the reel alone is usually ~$50 I reckon it sounds like a great deal for only $70. It's quite tempting actually and I'm not even in the market for another light combo at the moment.

People are saying that the Shimano Pro Sonic Rod (not V2) isn't that good for plastics though?
