Yaking about Patto
So...
Have a Yak finally. Just a simple Seak Sit In. Got all the grar needed and been out to some still water to get my bearings. Planning my first proper fish in water. My plan is launch at the Patto boat ramp, head right and into the marina area in all those little channels. Plan on casting SP and HB around the boats and moorings for bream. Just a leisurely paddle and will NOT head out under the bridge.
Thoughts? Safety? Tips?
Am I allowed to paddle around that area? I jumped on the all knowing google maps and had a look. Doesn't seem gated off so.... you can't own the water right?

Watch the weather, watch for boats.
Get one of those one-handed paddle like this one: https://www.freaksports.com.au/product/ ... nd-paddle/
Really useful for maneuvering around obstacles like timber or moored boats without needing to put down the rod each time you want to paddle.

Could you point me to the 2nd gate? As in 2nd from ramps or is there an internal one?mazman wrote:Don't fish inside the second floodgate and you're sweet

As purps said second from the ramp.Kadmium wrote:Could you point me to the 2nd gate? As in 2nd from ramps or is there an internal one?mazman wrote:Don't fish inside the second floodgate and you're sweet
Most people fish the 1st set of gates, the second set is a no fishing zone and the third set is miles away and can be quite hit and miss

Re: Yaking about Patto
Here's a couple of video that I did that explains a lot about fishing the Patto.
The first one does go for around 16 minutes but explains the whole system, techniques etc.
The 2nd one is more specific on lure technique.
Good luck in there. It is a great place to fish once you work it all out!

I logged the whole system with my sonar, and there were a large number of signals /archers that showed promise that they may be fish making them, so from what I have seen on my sonar, it a very healthy system with plenty of return signals on the sounder.Kadmium wrote:Oh wow. That's great to know. I hear they get Jewies outa there. Maybe one night when I'm more confident I'll trawl a lure behind the yak.Wolly Bugger wrote:I logged the whole system with my sonar, and there were a large number of signals /archers that showed promise that they may be fish making them, so from what I have seen on my sonar, it a very healthy system with plenty of return signals on the sounder.Kadmium wrote:Oh wow.
